Since Hollywood has been on a hell of a comic book adaption kick lately, Bitter Balcony decided to go to Emerald City ComiCon to see what we could dig up. We snapped a few pics of fans who just have to show how much they love their favorite characters by dressing up like them. Sometimes cool, sometimes not. Thankfully we missed the non-hot Princess Leia, who had a beard and man parts (if you get our meaning).

We missed the first half of Marvel’s presentation, so we have no news of their movie properties and/or studio developments. There were some snippy remarks at their competitors, DC Comics, which they responded as well. It’s always been our thought that DC has been trying to catch up to Marvel since the early ‘90s. It also reminds us how silly a nerd fight would be between the two.

From DC’s presentation we took away that they're deeply involved in the upcoming “Green Lantern” movie and want to keep design and character mythology intact. But we’re sure if the Hollywood moneymen decide they want to override DC, they'll do it anyway. In a non-confirmed confirmation it was mentioned that Green Lantern would also get an animated series thanks to the recent success of the animated comic films.

There was also some mention that when a movie adaption and comic book have the same new version of a character (Joker), it is usually a coincidence and not preplanned.

Leonard Nimoy (video from the Con below) was the main man among the ComiCon attractions (which included Thomas Jane, Wil Wheaton, Lou Ferrigno and Stan Lee). The lines for autographs were ridiculously long and he didn’t show face before we called it quits. We will search the interweb and find pics of his appearance for your ocular pleasure and post them as soon as we get our grubby little paws on them.

I thought about chatting it up with The Bride and/or Mrs. Marvel, but did not. I know, I know. A fail on my part. ;)
