Metal Gear vs Paul W.S. Anderson!

Paul W.S. Anderson is expressing interest in adapting Metal Gear Solid to the big screen. To this we say, “Please Zod, don’t let this happen!”

Paul W.S. Anderson was lucky that his adaptation to the 1995’s “Resident Evil” was entertaining. His track record since then… Well, it’s not that great.

Metal Gear is a great video game that has been around for quite some time. The story is complex as are the characters. The involvement of Anderson would only prove disastrous to this movie. It would be hard enough for a very talented writer to adapt the story of “Metal Gear Solid” into a single 2-hour movie. The story for that game alone is mini-series worthy because of the time it would take to adapt all the elements of the story without rushing it or cutting out characters.

Sure there could be a surprise waiting for us all if Anderson was to get involved, but the series is far too popular and well written. If it is going to be adapted to the silver screen a writer that’s proven he can write a complex and compelling story should handle it. Anderson is not there yet. In all honesty, we aren’t confident it’s a destination he will be capable of arriving at.

So, Anderson… Pretty please, with sugar on top – don’t get involved with this movie.

P.S. Yes, we are nervous about the director (Kurt Wimmer) attached. We'll see how this pans out.
