Miramax closed for good! Peace out edition

Miramax closed!

Disney has shut the doors on a studio that made (or released) quite a bit of great movies and some poor ones [cough] Highlander III [cough]. Lucky for us there are still plenty of studios to make poor movies for us to bash.

All kidding aside the studio that got Tarantino going, amongst some other good directors in the '90s, will be slightly missed. Only slightly though as some of the bad people they got started are still working too.

Their list of accomplishments and both good and bad can be seen on IMDB HERE.

P.S. Disney really blows if you factor out Pixar's work, so what do you think - was this a wise move?

Sony shoots it Web load on "Spider-Man Redux": A Very "Serious" Bitter Balcony Edition

Sony shoots it Web load on "Spider-Man Redux": A Very "Serious" Bitter Balcony Edition

"Apparently, Raimi was upset that Sony wasn't too fond of using a demon-possessed talking goat as Spidey's nemesis ("Drag Me To Hell" pun, but still a better rival than Vulture!)."

We guess Tobey Maguire is out of a meal ticket. As reported by realbollywood.com, Maguire and Spider-Man series director Sam Raimi have decided to quit a fourth installment of the series, blaming that always nondescript "creative differences" between them and Sony, the production company behind the franchise. Apparently, Raimi was upset that Sony wasn't too fond of using a demon-possessed talking goat as Spidey's nemesis ("Drag Me To Hell" pun, but still a better rival than Vulture!). In all seriousness, this divorce was over with script conflicts.

Apple announces new movie playing device, the Ipad

Apple's Ipad

Apple should have done more research on the name (see this video), but iPad it is – and we will all love it.

The iPad is basically an oversize iPod that will allow you to take your media on the road.

The iPod has proven to be a great device to take your [cough] legally purchased [cough] movies on the road for long trips. We have no doubt that this device will only increase the opportunities to watch bad movies on the go.

Just imagine: This will be a world where "Twilight" will be streaming to fancy wireless devices worldwide. In other words, shoot us now.

Does Daybreakers break your will to see movies?

Daybreakers (2009)

"Daybreakers" breaks something, but luckily it’s not our will to see vampire movies. In this land of "Twilight"-obsessed, two-dimensional vampire movies, we get one that actually tries to break the mold by giving us a “What if Blade failed?” movie. Is it all we had nightmares about? Find out inside.

“Daybreakers” features a world that has been mostly converted to vampires. They hunt the few remaining humans to place them in giant blood-sucking factories, so the vampires can spike their coffee with a little human vitae (not kidding on this one). Edward Dalton (Ethan Hawke) works for Charles Bromley (Sam Neill) attempting to make a synthetic blood that can sustain the new vampiric people. Charles fails a number of times then gets kidnapped by people that need his help. Why him? Because he is a human sympathizer.

Lookout: Matt Damon The Ass Kicker is ReBourne, sort of, with Green Zone

Green Zone Lookout

Matt Damon is kicking ass overseas again with "Green Zone". Reuniting with his "Bourne" director Paul Greengrass, Mr. Damon, as Roy Miller, is back to save the day, this time in the hunt for a dangerous man in the Middle East. From the looks of the trailer, it seems just like Damon's amnesiac hero alter-ego, Miller has plenty of ways to break bones on anybody who speaks English funny.
