Looking forward To Public Enemies

It's been a shitty summer full of pointless sequels, prequels, and re-imaginations. With the exception of Up and to a lesser extent, Star Trek, the season has provided as much thrills as a bottle rocket kids will be popping up this weekend. Hopefully Michael Mann's Public Enemies, an account about Famed bank robber John Dillinger and the F.B.I's efforts to capture him. There's a lot going for this pic, an awesome crime drama director in Mann, Johnny Depp as the notorious criminal, and Christian Bale as the lawman who pursues him. We'll see if Mann can make a convincing period piece while shooting it in digital. So far the reviews have been positive, but maybe that's a reaction to the want of a decent film and when one comes along it tends to be overhyped. Well, hopefully it won't suck, and that would be a good thing.
