A post from Kotaku a few days ago tells the tale of what Tron Night's footage showed and tells us all that cool sequels are actually possible. Not to say that's what we want, but a well made film is a well made film is a well made film and we can't argue with that.
The post mentions things like, "...the stunning Olivia Wilde as Quorra my god—only makes me want to watch Tron Legacy in full."
"I'm fairly confident in saying that lifelong fetishes will be borne of this scene [the scene where he gets dressed in his digital gear]."
"I'm hopeful that the mysterious of Flynn's existence in the video game world, his relationship to Clu and Tron and Quorra live up to their promise."
We'll be at the movies opening night for this one. Finally something worth watching!

Filled with wonderment and intrigue, UP stars a heart warming 70 year old man, a young boy scout a few hilarious creatures on their adventure that captures the attention of every generation. The movie tells a timeless tale of adventure and aging that touches on almost every emotion.
Carl has just about given up watching almost all of his dreams float away, from the dream of having children, to living out his shared adventure with his wife. He has just about given up, until he has no more choices. Carl is 70 year old man, retired from selling balloon and has got quite the scheme up his sleeve. He literally gets enough balloons attached to his house to get his house flying. Okay, so when I first saw previews for the movie, I had to say I was a bit skeptical that I would be able to relate to an old grumpy man that is floating around with a house of balloons, yet I was pulled in. The story was compelling, and demanded empathy, demanded understanding and I never wanted the story to end.
Sorcerer's Apprentice(2010)Merlin gets ass handed to him. Merlin talks about someone who will one day be as powerful as he. Merlin dies. Merlin's apprentice (one of) is charged with finding this person, so that he/she can destroy the ultimate evil. Enter nerd.
We've heard this "chosen one"/"the ONE" story hundreds of times before. There is only one person that can accomplish said task, he is usually some half wit or nerd that rises to the occasion and ends up getting the hot girl that would not have anything to do with one like him in the real world. Such is a fantasy tale and such is the story for "Sorcerer's Apprentice". How many "the ones" are there out there? If every movie has "the one" doesn't that defeat the whole point of "the one"?

Currently the only movie that we are looking forward to. At least that we can think of at the moment.

Alice in Wonderland
It's likely you've already heard other reviewers bashing "Alice in Wonderland" for a number of reasons. For Bitter Balcony, the film was an absolute snore – yet that's something we haven't seen mentioned in reviews often enough. "Alice" begins in our heroine's childhood nightmares about falling down a rabbit hole. Flash forward and now she's a rebel going against the in status quo. No corset? The nerve. Alice spends the entire movie arguing against her battle against the Jabberwocky, only to ultimately fulfill it. Did we just spoil it? No. As with any Disney film, good always triumphs. |

Miramax closed!
Disney has shut the doors on a studio that made (or released) quite a bit of great movies and some poor ones [cough] Highlander III [cough]. Lucky for us there are still plenty of studios to make poor movies for us to bash. All kidding aside the studio that got Tarantino going, amongst some other good directors in the '90s, will be slightly missed. Only slightly though as some of the bad people they got started are still working too. Their list of accomplishments and both good and bad can be seen on IMDB HERE. Related link HERE P.S. Disney really blows if you factor out Pixar's work, so what do you think - was this a wise move? |
