Wow. Just wow! This movie was so phenomenally bad that it’s great.

Class of 1984 has it all: nonsensical script, bad acting, gratuitous violence and things that blow up for no good reason. I’m not exaggerating; it has the best, awfulest exploding car crash I have ever seen. I should warn you that there are spoilers ahead, but it really doesn’t matter. You have to witness it yourself to be able to fully enjoy the crapulence.

If I must appreciate one thing about the movie unironically, is that the punk girl had very nice hair. That’s something that really annoyed me back in the 80’s. When they would want to make someone punk and then got some preppie kid in a costume. You couldn’t fool me, I was living it! I have to say at least they picked their bad actors from people who could at look the part. Except for the ring leader, he kinda looked more like the president of the Duran Duran fan club. But I digress. The movie stars some guy I should have recognized and some other guy who I thought was the bad guy from Karate Kid but he wasn’t, a super young Michael J Fox and quite inexplicably, Roddy McDowell, who was really slumming to take part in this atrocity.

The story concerns a young high school teacher who after being sassed in music class by a gang of punk rock hoodlums, proceeds to brutally murder them all Jason Voorhees style. Ok, so they did rape his wife too, but that’s not important right now, what is important is Glee would be so greatly improved if the teacher went off on a killing rampage. I keep watching that show hoping I’ll figure out what the big deal is but I just don’t get it. Why is Glee so popular? I say if you want to get some laughs while with a music teacher’s shenanigans, you should go rent Class of 1984 instead. Invite your friends, have a party! Give each other mohawks and set fire to stuff while watching it.
